Creative Industry Finance
MICA is a visual arts gallery specialising in Modern Islamic and Contemporary Art,
I started MICA in 2009 after completing a Diploma in Islamic Art and we soon became the UK’s only specialist in Contemporary Islamic Art. Over the last few years, MICA has expanded to include interiors, market intelligence, jobs and much more. I also decided to pursue my own dream of writing a book and have recently been commissioned to work on a book on ‘Contemporary Islamic Interiors’ by Thames & Hudson.
My training as a barrister and management consultant gave me an insight into the dynamics of the business world. However, I felt creative frustration so I completed a Foundation in Art & Design at Chelsea College followed by a Diploma in Islamic Art. I value creativity and having the freedom and courage to think, develop and create ideas from any source of beauty or inspiration.
“I applied for the programme as MICA is in a period of transition and felt that I needed help and advice to grow the concept to achieve my business and financial targets” MICA Gallery
MICA was in a period of transition and I applied to Creative Industry Finance for help and advice to grow the concept to achieve my business and financial targets. I believe that I have identified a unique niche, a gap in the market and developed a business with the potential to grow despite the recession. The funding secured allowed us to develop the website and prototype designs, which we are now launching in London and Dubai.
One of our current projects include developing our ‘Mica Zen’ wall coverings, fabrics, carpets, furniture and artworks, and we are marketing these through major department stores, boutiques in the UK & Europe, USA, Middle East, North Africa and South Asia.
